Malcolm Butler denies reports he missed curfew during Super Bowl week

Patriots cornerback Malcolm Butler issued a statement on Twitter denying reports that he missed curfew or otherwise violated team rules during the Super Bowl preparations.

"I have always given everything I have to play at a high level, and would never do anything to hurt my team's chances of winning a game, including thus year's Super Bowl when I visited with my family every night," the player said.

It's still unclear why Butler did not play any defensive snaps in Super Bowl LII and only one snap on special teams.

"During Super Bowl week I never attended any concert, missed curfew, or participated [in] any of the ridiculous activities being reported. They are not only false, but hurtful to me and my family," Butler's tweeted statement said.

Patriots quarterback Tom Brady commented on the post saying "Love you Malcolm. You are an incredible player and teammate and friend. Always!!!!!"

Butler also apologized for vulgar language used after the game when asked why he didn't play and thanked members of the organization for giving him "an opportunity to play for one of the most successful organizations in sports."
