NEW YORK — Kyrie Irving has been voted an NBA All-Star starter, the league announced Thursday night.

Irving is joined by LeBron James, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Joel Embiid and DeMar DeRozan from the Eastern Conference and Steph Curry, James Harden, Kevin Durant, Anthony Davis and Demarcus Cousins from the Western Conference.

James and Curry will serve as captains and they will select the teams, beginning with the starters and then moving on to the reserves, who will be announced on Tuesday.

Irving, who won't play in the Celtics game against Philadelphia Thursday night, is averaging 24.1 points per game in his first season with Boston. This will be his fifth All-Star appearance.
