Garoppolo introduced in San Francisco

DEDHAM — "I'm just thrilled to be here right now." That was how Jimmy Garoppolo ended his opening statment at his San Francisco 49ers introductory press conference on Tuesday afternoon at Levi's Stadium.

The soon to be 26 year old Garoppolo (his birthday is thursday Nov 2nd) arrived in Santa Clara, CA in the afternoon and was quickly introduced by the 49ers at a press conference at Levi's stadium just after 3:00 PST.

"We had an opportunity to get better as an organization. We took advantage of that and could not be more excited to have Jimmy with us," said San Francisco GM John Lynch while he was sitting next to Garoppolo at the podium.

After three and a half seasons with the Patriots as Tom Brady's backup, Garoppolo was traded to the 49ers on Monday night in exchange for a 2nd round draft pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.

When Garoppolo was told by Bill Belichick that he was traded his reaction was immediate. "When I first found out, I can't even describe how excited I was." said Garoppolo.  "You know the time in New England was great. I thank them for everything but I mean to come here in such a great organization, it really is a privilege."

The 0-8 49ers will host the Arizona Cardinals this coming Sunday at Levi's Stadium.  Arizona is the team that Garoppolo beat in his first NFL start in 2016.  Garoppolo is not expected to start on Sunday
