High School Football Poll sees few changes after no Top 10 team loses in Week 7

DEDHAM, Mass. — The top three high school football teams in Massachusetts retained their rankings this week in Boston 25′s High School Football Top 10 Poll after none of the 10 teams were defeated this last week. No. 1 Catholic Memorial (7-0) unanimously kept their top ranking in the commonwealth for the second week in a row after a big 49-8 win over Malden Catholic.

Everett (6-0) easily finished at No. 2 for yet another week - they’ve been the second-ranked team in the state since Week 2 - after a 41-0 shutout of Medford. Xaverian (6-1), who climbed to No. 3 last week, kept their spot in the poll after winning against St. John’s Shrewsbury at Polar Park in Worcester on Sunday.

No. 4 St. John’s Prep (6-1), who missed out on the fourth spot by just two votes a week ago, leapfrogged No. 5 Lincoln-Sudbury (6-0) for the No. 4 ranking by one vote this time around. The Eagles beat fellow Catholic Conference member BC High, 40-26, while L-S easily downed Wayland, 49-14.

Central Catholic (6-1) held firm at No. 6 for the fourth consecutive week with their 40-19 win over Haverhill. It was also the fourth straight week at No. 7 for Franklin (6-0), who narrowly escaped Attleboro, 21-19. No. 8 Reading (7-0) remains where they’ve been ranked since Week 1 after their 48-6 beatdown of Winchester.

No. 9 Marblehead (6-0) narrowly edged out No. 10 Marshfield (6-1) for the nine spot this week by just one vote. The Magicians were on a bye this week while the Rams beat Silver Lake, 37-8.

Duxbury (5-1), Barnstable (6-1), Natick (6-1) and Scituate (6-1) also all received votes this week.
