‘He left to the enemy:' Ray Allen reportedly not invited to 2008 Celtics reunion

BOSTON — Rajon Rondo is reportedly planning a vacation that would reunite the 2008 NBA champion Celtics, but it won’t include Ray Allen.

Allen was one of four stars that played a key role in the team’s championship run, but became estranged from fellow standouts Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Rondo after he left for the Eastern Conference rivals Miami Heat in 2012.

According to The Undefeated, Rondo has been planning the vacation but has decided to not invite Allen after feedback from the other members of the team.

“I don’t know a good analogy to put this in. It just wasn’t the greatest separation,” Rondo told The Undefeated about Allen’s departure from the Celtics. “It wasn’t the greatest thing that could’ve happened to us as a team, a bond. We were at war with those guys [Miami].”

The Undefeated also includes a quote from an unnamed former Celtics player that said: “I mean, Ray left. He left to the enemy.”
