Harold Landry named preseason AP All-American

CHESTNUT HILL — Boston College defensive end Harold Landry was named a first-team preseason All-American by the Associated Press.

Landry was on the AP All-American team following a stellar 2016 season in which he recorded 16.5 sacks.

After speaking with NFL scouts and coaches, Landry decided to return to BC for his senior season. He's expected to lead the Eagles defense and continue to pressure quarterbacks, while freeing his teammates to make plays.

“He's a marquee player,” said BC head coach Steve Addazio when talking about Landry earlier this summer. “He made the right decision, big picture for him. He made a really good, smart, well thought-out, educated decision. You’ll look back one day and you hope that was a great decision for everybody, but no guarantees for anybody.”

“Coming back gave me the ability to get my degree this December - graduate a semester early,” said Landry. “Last season we finished so strong. The year before we didn't have so much success. I forgot how fun it was, how much fun it is going to a bowl game. Obviously coming back definitely helps my draft stock. I’m definitely looking to go first-round this year.”
