Goodell plans to attend Patriots season opener

Roger Goodell will be at Gillette Stadium when the Patriots open the 2017 season.

Speaking at the Owners' Meetings, Goodell told the media he does indeed plan to be in Foxboro when the Patriots raise their fifth championship banner.

"I plan to be at the kickoff game," said Goodell when asked by The Boston Globe's Ben Volin if he knew where he'd be on Thursday, September 7, when the 2017 season begins.

Yesterday, when asked about whether Goodell would be welcome in Foxboro, Patriots Chairman and CEO Robert Kraft said, "Look, he's commissioner of the league. As we all know, he has the right to go wherever he wishes to go and if he wanted to come he's welcome to come. We're happy that we're celebrating our fifth banner and he can decide whether he wants to be there."
