Ed Sheeran cheers up injured high school football player

WESTWOOD — Westwood senior defensive lineman James Dawson got a nice surprise when singer Ed Sheeran gave him a video shout-out while visiting Boston Children's Hospital.

Dawson broke his leg in the Wolverines loss to Holliston Friday night and will be recovering for many months. His mom, Anastasia, ran into Sheeran and coordinated the recording of the video, which lifted Dawson's spirits.

"I was totally surprised," said Anastasia. "I didn't know what to expect, but I didn't expect that. And to cheer on the Westwood Wolverines was so exciting because James, now, can't play this year on the field, but it's a happy ending to a sad story."

"My friends were all there so it was fun to talk about it," said James.
