BOSTON — In a rousing, emotional ceremony held in the moments after the Celtics lost to the Cavaliers, the number 34 was raised to the rafters of TD Garden to honor the achievements of Paul Pierce.

Former teammates and coaches joined Pierce and his family on the court for a ceremony that lasted more than an hour, culminating with Pierce raising the banner then posing at midcourt with the Larry O'Brien Trophy from the 2008 Championship season.

Kevin Garnett, Rajon Rondo, Antoine Walker, Walter McCarty, James Posey and Brian Scalabrine were among Pierce's former teammates in attendance for Sunday's ceremonies. Former Celtics head coach Doc Rivers was also on hand to honor his captain.
