TORONTO — The Bruins scored early and controlled the pace for much of the game as they beat Toronto 3-1 to take a 3-1 series lead in the Eastern Conference Quarterfinal.

Torey Krug, Brad Marchand and Jake DeBrusk scored the goals for Boston, who return home for Game 5 with a chance to close out the series and advance to the second round.

Krug set the tone with a goal just 28 seconds into the game. Toronto responded with a first period tally from Tomas Plekanec, but a goal from Marchand with just over three minutes to play in the second period put Boston on top for good.

DeBrusk scored his second of the series to put Boston on top by two with over 15 minutes to play.

Tuukka Rask was brilliant in net, stopping 31 of 32 shots.
