Bruins draft Finnish defenseman with first pick

LAS VEGAS — Selecting 18th in the first round of Friday's NHL Draft, the Bruins picked defenseman Urho Vaakanainen from Finland.

Vaakanainen, who is still 18, is scheduled to play for SaiPa in Liiga next season. Born in 1999, the left-handed shot scored two goals with four assists in 41 games for JYP Jyväskylä last season.
