Firehouse Friday: Sterling Fire Department

Sterling may be a small community, but that’s not stopping them from doing big things. Just this past year they have added to their team and began participating in more specialized training. Before last fall, Sterling Fire Department had three full-time firefighters that would work 11-hour day shifts. After 6 p.m., all firefighters and paramedics would be on calls. However, last fall the department added to their team to allow for a firefighter/paramedic to be on duty 24 hours a day. With this addition, the department is able to respond to calls faster and provide more specialized care. The Sterling Fire Department has also has been participating in more regional specialized training.  Just a few weeks ago there was a group from the Sterling Fire Department training for technical rescues.  This specialized and specific training is very important because it gives the department more resources and specific knowledge when they are responding to a variety of emergencies.

Thank you for all that you do to keep your community safe, Sterling Fire Department!
