Around Town

Around Town This Weekend: May 25 - 29

As we head into this three day weekend, let us help you make plans that will keep your whole crew busy all weekend long because there's a lot going on around town.

First, if you haven't already seen it, Motown the Musical is playing at the Hanover Theater for the Performing Arts in Worcester through Sunday.  One man's story became everyone's music.  Audiences are incited to follow the journey of Motown founder Berry Gordy from boxer to music mogul. Motown music has shattered barriers and makes us all move to the same beat. So get on your feet and get those tickets before it's too late.

Next, before heading to your afternoon cookouts get a good sweat in Monday, for a few deserving causes.  Lace up for the 10th annual Katie's 5k Race in Boylston. The race starts on teh Boylston Common and is followed by post-race refreshments, awards and a big family festival. Run, walk, or skip with friends. Proceeds go to Veteran's Inc. and a scholarship set up in Katie Chalifoux's name. Registration begins Monday, May 29th at 7:30am.

Finally, we may get caught up in thinking about Monday as a day off from work or school and forget to take a moment to remember the meaning of Memorial Day: a day to honor and pay tribute to the many brace generations who have fallen while serving our country in the line of duty. Celebrate the memory of these courageous men and women with parades across the Commonwealth.  Whether you are up in Haverhill, out in Amherst, or down in Plymouth, chances are there is a parade close by. Flaunt your red, white, and blue and have some fun!

Whatever you do this weekend, make it a great one!
