Around Town

Around Town This Weekend: December 9-11

If you’re dreaming of a white Christmas, you may get a taste of it later this weekend! It really is starting to feel like December! Make sure you bundle up this weekend because there is a lot happening around town.

First, a Boston winter classic – Boston Common's Frog Pond is now open for the season! Whether you're a pro or just learning to skate, you can bundle up and make your way around the beautiful Boston park. Skating is open to the public at 10am each day – until 10 pm tonight and tomorrow and 9 pm Sunday.  If skating isn't for you, grab a hot coco at the Frog Pond Café.  The pond will be open now through March.

Tomorrow, the Festival of Lights kicks off in Middleborough! This weekend and next, drive around to see thousands of lights decorating the town. Then, check out Santa's Village where you can get hot chocolate and cookies, watch Oak Point's Model Train display, visit the alpacas, or take your photo with Santa and the Grinch. Let's hope he doesn't steal Christmas this year. The fun kicks off at 4pm each day and runs until 9pm.

Finally, this flat race would win you your fastest time! The Cambridge Race Series hosts the Yulefest 5k Sunday at 9:30am. Run from Harvard Square through the streets of Cambridge. After, celebrate your victory with free food and beer at the post race party! There will even be old school hip hop and holidays classics from DJ Renselect. Need more incentive? You'll get a new, cozy Yulefest knit hat.  Registration is open through Sunday.

Have a great weekend!
