World's largest solar powered boat embarks on fact-finding mission

BOSTON ( – Scientists embark on an environmental fact-finding mission aboard the world's largest solar powered boat.

The Planet Solar was in Boston Harbor over the weekend. The boat has more than 500 solar panels which makes it capable of sailing around the world completely under its own power.

Climate scientists are using the boat to gather information about the depths of the ocean and its interactions with the atmosphere.

The scientists will also be studying how phytoplankton are affected by global warming.
