Work underway for movie based on Patriots' Super Bowl LI comeback win

BOSTON — It hasn’t even been two weeks since the Patriots epic comeback to win Super Bowl LI, but a movie is already in the works to chronical everything they overcame.

According to a news release, the film will include the “battle to overcome the Deflategate controversy in 2014, Tom Brady’s fall from grace and his triumphant return to lead The New England Patriots to a world championship in a shocking overtime.”

The film will be made local journalist Dave Wedge and author Casey Sherman who worked together on the 2015 book “Boston Strong”, which was adapted into the film “Patriots Day” starring Mark Wahlberg.

“Our story will take you from the locker room to the court room and ultimately into the confetti storm in Houston where The New England Patriots pulled off the greatest comeback win in sports history,” the creators said.

Paul Tamasy and Eric Johnson who wrote the screenplay for “Patriots Day” are also working on this project. Their previous work also includes the screenplay for “The Fighter.”
