WORCESTER, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – A Worcester man is facing a manslaughter charge after the man he allegedly punched in front of Compare Foods on Main Street died from his injuries, police said.
A Mass. State Police trooper spotted an unconscious man on the ground in front of the Compare Foods located at 664 Main St. at about 2:10 p.m. on June 28.
Witnesses told the trooper it appeared the 48-year-old man, later identified as Elohm Punch, suffered a seizure. Punch was transported to UMass Medical on Lake Avenue where he was pronounced dead July 1.
An autopsy reveals that Punch suffered a serious head injury consistent with being assaulted.
After reviewing security footage, police determined the victim had been in a fight with another man, later identified as 38-year-old Rafeal Ramos.
After being punched, Punch fell back and hit his head on the concrete.
Police located Ramos on Canterbury Street Wednesday and placed him under arrest for manslaughter. He was arraigned Thursday.
