Worcester man accused of pulling knife on Family Dollar workers

WORCESTER, Mass. — A 43-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly pulling a knife on workers at the Family Dollar in Worcester after he was caught shoplifting.

Police were called to the Chandler Street store just after 12:30 Friday afternoon. Family Dollar employees told police they caught a man shoplifting and when they confronted him, he began to fight, pulled out a knife and threatened them with it.

The suspect fled the area, but was eventually identified as Angel Lopez-Ramos. He was found with crack cocaine, a knife and items stolen from the store. He is charged with armed robbery, possession of a Class B substance and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

Lopez-Ramos will be in court on Monday.
