WORCESTER, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Worcester police are investigating an apparent murder-suicide at a home on Thistle Lane.
Police were called to the home inside the Botany Bay Condominium Complex at about 4:30 p.m. Thursday for a welfare check.
A 42-year-old man who said he was the son of the woman living in the home met police. He told them both his mother and stepfather were inside and appeared to be deceased.
Investigators entered the home to find the bodies of 71-year-old Ellen Maher and 70-year-old Vincent Maher.
While the official cause of death will not be released until an autopsy is conducted, investigators say preliminary information indicates the couple died in a murder-suicide.
