Woman stabbed while jogging at Fort Phoenix in Fairhaven

FAIRHAVEN, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – A woman was attacked while jogging Monday night in Fairhaven.

Police said the 26-year-old was stabbed by an unidentified man at about 10 p.m. in the parking lot of Fort Phoenix as she was returning to her car following a jog on the beach.

According to the victim, a white man about 5'9" ripped off the armband holding her iPod and stabbed her in the abdomen. The suspect then fled into the wooded area north of the state parking lot, police said.

Police did not release the victim's condition.

Officers from the Fairhaven, Acushnet and Mattapoisett Police departments searched the entire area on foot and were assisted with K9 officers from the Bristol County Sheriff's Office.
