Woman severely burned while trying to escape Nashua fire

A Nashua woman was airlifted to a Boston hospital after she received severe burns while trying to escape a fire with her two children.

The fire broke out inside an apartment on Major Drive late Wednesday night.

Fire officials said they were able to quickly extinguish the blaze and found no one inside when they searched for people who may have still been inside.

Upon further investigation officials said they learned a woman escaped the fire with her two children, but a neighbor rushed her to a hospital with burn injuries.

The unidentified woman was then airlifted to a Boston hospital for treatment.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
