Woman pretending to be blind robs teenage waitress, Quincy police say

QUINCY, Mass. — Police in Quincy are looking for a woman they say robbed a Friendly’s waitress after pretending to be blind.

The suspect asked the 17-year-old high school junior for help walking to the ladies’ room at the back of the restaurant.

"The woman came in.  She said she was going to have a table for one but she couldn't see well and asked me to lead her to the bathroom,” the waitress said.

When they got there, the suspect pulled a knife and forced her into the door,

“I was kind of like squished between her and the bathroom door.  She told me she had a knife to my back and to go in and then she took my money and had me walk her out to the front,” the victim said.

The robber took all of the cash from the waitress, including money for checks and her tips.

The woman is described as a white woman with a medium build and dark hair. She was wearing black pants and a pink shirt with a black jacket at the time.

Quincy police are asking for anyone who recognizes the woman is asked to contact Detective Monteith at wmonteith@quincyma.gov or 617-745-5767.
