• Woman killed by own car in Westford parking lot

WESTFORD, Mass. - A woman in her 50s was killed by her own car after another driver hit it outside the Market Basket in Westford Thursday, according to the Middlesex County District Attorney's Office.

Witnesses on scene Thursday afternoon told Boston 25 News they saw a woman get hit and pinned by a vehicle in the parking lot.

The DA's officer later confirmed the woman was killed in the accident. The other car was parking when it hit the woman's car, which rolled backwards and pinned her underneath it, the DA said.

The victim hasn't been publicly identified yet, but people who knew her said she was a mother of two grown children out shopping for her family.

The driver of the other vehicle has been identified as a woman in her 80s by neighbors.

“She is a wonderful person. You would never know she is 80 years old. She is energetic. Out walking all the time,” neighbor Jim Carroll said.

Police said the woman stayed at the scene and is not facing any charges at this time.
