DOVER, N.H. — A 71-year-old New Hampshire woman was killed late Monday night after she lost control of her car and slammed into trees, New Hampshire State Police said.

The crash was reported just before midnight on Route 16 north in Dover.

When troopers arrived at the scene they found the vehicle off the road into the tree line with heavy front end damage.

The driver, who has been identified as Jacqueline C. McKay, of Rochester, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The initial investigation showed McKay was headed north on Route 16 in Dover when, for unknown reasons, she lost control and crashed into the trees.

The road was closed for about two hours while police investigated the crash and the vehicle was removed.

Speed and alcohol don’t appear to be factors in the crash, state police said.
