Woman found dead in Brockton identified

BROCKTON, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – A woman was found dead in Brockton Friday and now her four children are in DCF custody.

At about 3 p.m., police responded to a call for a person dead at a home on Forest Avenue, officials say. Officers found a deceased woman, who was later identified as Florence Beaulieu, 37, in her home at 124 Forest Ave.

Beaulieu lived with her four children and neighbors believe the oldest may have found her mother dead in a hallway.

Neighbor Nachila Ortiz heard a girl scream, but thought she was playing.

"I didn't think anything of it. I thought it was little girl screaming and playing. So that's why I didn't go over there and help them," Ortiz said.

She went on to say that one of Beaulieu's daughter was in the tenth grade with her daughter at Southeastern Regional Vocational High School. Ortiz said the family recently moved to the Brockton area from Florida.

All of Beaulieu's children are now in DCF custody.

Community members were shocked by the news.

"I've lived in Brockton all my life. I mean it's a lot of crime, but this is way too close, you know, way to close for me," a neighbor told FOX 25. "It's sad. Children, I can't, the children have no mother now?"

A spokesperson from the DA's office says published reports of a suspect identification and a description of a car that may have been involved in the case were not released by law enforcement, and there was no one in police custody Saturday.

One neighbor said Beaulieu had been recently separated from her husband.

An autopsy will be performed on the body to find the cause as police are calling this a suspicious death. The investigation remains ongoing.
