Woman found after 8 hours in wrecked car

YARMOUTH, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – Emergency officials in Yarmouth say a woman was found trapped in a minivan Thursday morning that had crashed overnight.

Yarmouth Fire Chief Michael Walker said 27-year-old Megan Lynn Haley's 2006 Honda Odyssey had crashed into some woods off of Winslow Gray Road overnight Thursday. She was found by a man walking his dog at about 6:45 a.m. Friday.

Walker said Haley, of West Yarmouth, had been trapped upside-down in the car for close to 8 hours in freezing temperatures.

Crews had to cut trees down and remove pieces of the car to access her arm to administer an IV while they worked to remove her.

Walker said the fire department used every tool available to pull Haley from the car.

Haley remains at Massachusetts General Hopsital, where she is listed in stable condition.

The cause of the crash is under investigation, but officials say speed may have been a factor.
