Woman follows accused drunk driver after Route 128 crash

HINGHAM, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Police say a Taunton woman followed an accused drunk driver from Route 128 in Dedham to Route 3A in Hingham after the driver hit her car and kept driving.

George L. Beal, 51, of Hull, is charged with driving to endanger and drunken driving (second offense).

Beal was arrested early Sunday morning after the alleged victim contacted police to tell them she was following a car that sideswiped her on Route 128. Investigators allege Beal was passing the victim in the left lane when he hit her car.

Police stopped Beal and conducted field sobriety tests, which they say he failed. Beal reportedly had a blood alcohol content level of .15.

Police claim Beal admitted to having a few drinks, but told them he didn't believe he was drunk. He said he was leaving an event when the incident occurred. According to court records, Beal's first OUI charge came from a 2005 incident in Fall River.

At his arraignment Tuesday, Beal pleaded not guilty to both charges and was released with conditions of alcohol screenings and a bail warning.
