Woman dies in Provincetown surf

PROVINCETOWN, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A missing woman was found dead on the beach in Provincetown Sunday morning, after being caught up in heavy surf, according to police.

The woman, whose identity has not been released, was in her fifties and was reported missing around the area of Race Point Lighthouse. Provincetown police and fire departments, along with the U.S. Coast Guard and National Park Service were searching for her.

A short time later, rescue crews found the woman's body near the Hatches Harbor area of Provincetown, according to the Provincetown Police Department.

The department said it contacted Massachusetts State Police, and the incident remains under investigation.
