Woman charged in fatal crash accused of violating bail terms

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. (AP) - Police say a former Framingham State University student who's charged with driving drunk and causing a crash that killed her friend violated terms of her bail by drinking alcohol.

Police say 23-year-old Brooke Uttley was spotted by an officer working a detail at a Framingham restaurant on Friday.

The MetroWest Daily News reports that Uttley told the officer she was drinking cranberry juice, but the bartender told police she was served vodka with cranberry juice.

Police on Saturday received a fax from the chief probation officer at Middlesex Superior Court with a warrant for Uttley's arrest.

Prosecutors say Uttley was drunk and driving 60 mph in a 25 mph zone when she hit a pole December 2011, killing her passenger, Ashley Donahue.

Uttley is free on bail while awaiting trial.
