Hannaford employee injured after being hit by car in Waltham parking lot

WALTHAM, Mass. — Two people were taken to the hospital after a car crashed into several others and a carriage corral in the parking lot of Hannaford Supermarket in Waltham.

Police on the scene told FOX25's Malini Basu they believe a woman was backing up out of a parking spot when she hit an employee gathering carriages in the lot. The driver then continued to back up into the carriage corral, damaging several other cars.

The employee was alert when he was taken to a nearby hospital. First responders told FOX25 the driver was also taken to the hospital.

Police told FOX25 they don't what caused the driver to back up into the employee and corral.

Several shoppers didn't know about what happened until they were done getting their groceries.

“It was parked. I come to find out, this is the state of my car. I had no idea,” Gayatri Srinivasan said.

“When we came out, we saw the car damaged like this, The whole bumper was off,” Ali Sajjaed said.

The driver's brother told FOX25 he didn't know what happened. Her brother showed up at the scene to pick up the groceries.
