Wintry mix expected amid Tuesday commute

FITCHBURG, Mass. — After more than six inches of snow fell northwest of Boston this past weekend, another winter advisory has been issued for the area.

Parts of northern Middlesex County, along with southern New Hampshire and central and western Massachusetts, are bracing for more snow beginning Tuesday morning.

While the snow expectations morph into rain towards Boston, the weather was expected to pick up into the morning commute.

"This storm system will bring a wintry mix of snow and ice to the interior with mainly rain in the coastal plain today," National Weather Service forecasters said Tuesday morning.

Coupling the rain and snow mix with the blast of arctic air and windy conditions later in the week could make for rough road conditions throughout the week.
