Boston sees fourth largest snow storm this winter

BOSTON — BOSTON 

Final numbers are in, and Logan airport recorded 3.6” of snow from this spring snowstorm. That pushes our season total to 29.5”. Boston typically receives about 43.8” of snow each winter season.

While this was not a big storm for the city, it was the fourth biggest this winter. Overall a widespread 3-6"  of snow fell across central and eastern MA. Amounts were less over parts of the Cape due to mixing. An average of 1-3" of snow fell there. There were also a handful of reports of totals over 6" from the South Shore, northern Worcester Hills to Merrimack Valley.  The latest list of snowfall reports from the National Weather Service can be found here.

AFTERNOON:

Spring sunshine will make its way through some clouds this afternoon.  It will feel nice, despite temperatures a few degrees below average. Highs will reach the low to mid 40s. Expect some melting and snow to compact through the afternoon. However, don’t expect a complete melt. West winds will gust 20 to 30 mph at times.  The evening drive should be dry.

TONIGHT:

Skies will clear with lows in the 20s and 30s.  Watch out for black ice where runoff from melting snow freezes.

Winds will gust up to 30 mph. Wind chills will be about 10 degrees lower than temperature readings.

TOMORROW:

Tuesday will be dry and seasonable! It will be partly to mostly sunny.  After waking up the upper 20s and lower 30s, highs will peak in the upper 40s.  These are 100% NORMAL temps for early spring! More melting will occur.

A LOOK AHEAD:

Occasional scattered showers are expected Wednesday with in the middle 50s.  There’s a slight chance for a Thursday shower as highs reach nearly 60 degrees!  The warm stretch will be knocked back on Friday with a cold front and a period of heavy rain.

WEEKEND:
Right now, it looks like the weekend will start off dry as high pressure will build into the area. Temperatures will be near 50. High pressure pushes away allowing for clouds to increase on Easter Sunday. There is the chance of some showers late. Highs on Sunday will be in the 50s.
