Wife says Sal DiMasi may not live out his time behind bars

(MyFoxBoston.com) – The wife of disgraced former House Speaker Sal DiMasi says he may not live out his time behind bars.

DiMasi is 18 months into his eight-year federal prison sentence. Debbie DiMasi told the Boston Herald that her husband only has a 40-percent chance of surviving the next five years.
    
DiMasi was diagnosed with throat and tongue cancer shortly after going to prison. The paper says the cancer was left untreated for seven months and has now resulted in the destruction of his saliva glands.
    
His esophagus repeatedly closes and DiMasi has a fluid buildup on the lymph nodes in his neck.
    
DiMasi is serving his sentence at a federal facility in North Carolina.
