Wife of accused child rapist gets 5 years on endangerment charges

WAKEFIELD, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- The wife of accused child rapist John Burbine was sentenced to five years in prison Monday on child endangerment charges.

Marian Burbine pleaded guilty to six counts of reckless endangerment of a child. She is charged with putting six children at risk of sexual abuse when she placed them in the care of her husband at her unlicensed day care in Wakefield.

Prosecutors say the alleged abuse occurred when Marian Burbine was not present and without her direct knowledge, but she was aware that her husband was a convicted sex offender. She fed her husband a "buffet of children" to abuse, according to prosecutors.

Investigators allege John Burbine raped and sexually assaulted children in his care, including 13 infants and toddlers. He committed suicide in jail in March.
