Whitey prompts VB to send first Tweet

Yes folks, the rumors are true, FOX 25 Commentator Doug "VB" Goudie sent his first Tweet Friday…and all it took was a little nudge from Whitey Bulger.

"Whitey not testifying--The King Rat is now quiet as a mouse. You suck Whitey, you suck. #bulger" were the first words from VB's fingertips on the now old-as-dirt social media site.

Considering VB has had his account for years, has amassed almost 4,000 followers and hasn't sent a single Tweet, many thought his account had been hacked or someone else was at the keyboard.

FOX 25's Elizabeth Hopkins tweeted "OMG, @fox25vb TWEETED!!"

@danwillard72 wrote, "@fox25vb who did the tweet 4 u amazing."

@Gitmo70 mused, "He will come out later and say his Twitter account was hacked!!"

I'm here to tell you that the Tweet was all him. How do I know this? He used my iPhone to write and send it. Sure, I had to bring Twitter up for him, sign in using the password I assigned to him and open the Tweet prompt so he could type, but he did the rest -- including pressing the "Tweet" button. He had to do it because I had my nose buried in the @Fox25News and @Fox25Court accounts Tweeting for the station when J.W. Carney announced Whitey wouldn't testify.

If you still don't believe me, ask Howie Carr (@howiecarrshow), who was sitting right next to VB when he sent the inaugural blast. Mr. Carr even grabbed the phone to chuckle at the responses VB was getting. (VB's first Tweet, followed by Howie Carr touching my phone might just make it the most historic 16GB iPhone 4S in the city of Boston.)

After all that VB gave me the phone back AND THEN QUICKLY ASKED TO HAVE IT BACK SO HE COULD SEND ANOTHER TWEET!

"Whitney's thinking—better to keep one's mouth shut and be thought a stool then to open his mouth and remove all doubt"

Two Tweets!?! Are you kidding me? Autocorrect fail aside (Whitey, not Whitney, autocorrect), I think we may have a burgeoning Twitter addict on our hands.

If you want to see more Tweets from VB, follow him @fox25vb – we can't make any guarantees, but crazier things have happened.
