While surveilling suspect, officers allegedly see him carjack someone

BOSTON — Officers were surveilling a person of interest in a string of armed robberies when he carjacked someone, said Boston Police Department.

Friday evening, officers were on patrol in the Glenrose Road and Adams Street area, watching a person suspected of armed robberies in Dorchester stores, who was also wanted on several warrants.

While surveilling the suspect's home, officers saw the man, Trevor Clarke, walk out and enter the passenger side of a car that had just pulled up in front, said police. Shortly after, officers allegedly saw the driver of the car "frantically" exit the car and sprint away.

Clarke, now on the driver's side, started to drive off quickly, but officers moved in and blocked his escape, said police.

Clarke was arrested and during a search of the car, officers said they found a long-barreled firearm with a brown handle that was in the cocked position. Clarke allegedly confirmed the gun belonged to him.

Police charged Clarke with carjacking, armed robbery, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition and carrying a loaded firearm on a public way.

Clarke is scheduled to be arraigned at Dorchester District Court on Tuesday, February 19, 2018.

The 24-year-old is also being charged with the armed robbery of a convenience store and additional charges may be forthcoming.
