Where to celebrate Mardi Gras in Boston

BOSTON — From King cake to Hurricanes, there are plenty of places to enjoy a little New Orleans inspired fun in Boston this Mardi Gras.

Mardi Gras marks the beginning of Lent, the period of 40 days before Easter where many Christians give up something for religious observance.

South Street Diner  11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Enjoy an all-you-can-eat Jambalaya feast for $6 as well as a New Orleans menu including beignets, crawfish and shrimp po’boys. And of course, there will be some Voo Doo punch. The festivities go from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Beat Brassiere  4:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.

Enjoy Fat Tuesday at the Harvard Square restaurant with live music and menu specials inspired by Brazil's version of Mardi Gras, known as Carnival. Nancy Assis Band will be playing from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m.

Saloon  5 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Along with Creole food specials and Sazeracs, there will be live Jazz music at the Davis Square restaurant from 9:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.

The Beehive  5:30 p.m. to 1 a.m.

The jazz restaurant promises to spare no expense for Mardi Gras, with live music and food and drink specials.

Sweet Cheeks Q  6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Sweet Cheeks is putting aside the barbecue Tuesday for a traditional crawfish boil. There will be Seafood Gumbo and King cake as well. Tickets are $40 and there is a 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. seating.
