What to bring, what not to bring to Boston Calling

BOSTON — If you are one of the thousands planning to attend Boston Calling this weekend, expect tight security at the city's first big summer event.

There will be metal detectors at the front entrance; in case of emergency, some of the permanent fares around the Harvard Athletic Complex have been taken down to allow people out easily.

JFK Street will be shut down from Harvard Square down to the Charles every night around 10 p.m. to allow people to cross to the Harvard Square T station.

What you can bring:

• Sunscreen/Hats
• Sunglasses
• Non-professional film and digital cameras
• (1) factory-sealed water bottle (non-glass container)
• Empty water bottle
• A small clear plastic bag (no backpacks are allowed inside the festival)
• Valid Driver's License for will-call and/or to purchase alcohol

What NOT to bring:

• Cigarettes, Cigars, Lighters or Tobacco of any kind
• Large bags/backpacks (bags can be no larger than 12" x 12")
• Weapons of any kind
• Professional cameras & recording devices (SLR/DSLR)
• Illegal substances
• Squirt guns, misters, spray bottles, etc
• Laser pens and similar focused-light devices
• Chairs / Strollers
• Cans, canteens, flasks
• Pets
• Bicycles, scooters, personal motorized vehicles
• Musical instruments
• Sleeping bags or picnic blankets
• Umbrellas
• Totem poles or flag sticks
• Walkie Talkies

There will be plenty of food, including vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options. Bike racks are also available near Harvard Stadium, but bikes themselves cannot be brought inside the festival.
