Weymouth PD: Fake UPS driver used hammer in robbery

WEYMOUTH, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – Police in Weymouth have released a sketch of a man they said posed as a UPS worker and threatened a woman with a hammer.

The incident happened at about 10:47 a.m. on Aug. 9. Police said the man knocked on the woman's door on Roberts Drive, saying he was a delivery driver with UPS.

When the woman opened the door, the man threatened her with a hammer and forced her inside. Police said he then broke down a door and took money that was hidden in the ceiling.

The suspect was not dressed as a UPS employee. Police said they believe the suspect targeted the home and that it was not a random act.

The suspect was described as a white man with short, dirty blonde hair. He was wearing a black, hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.

Anyone with information is asked to call Weymouth Police Dept. at 781-335-1212.
