Weymouth man convicted in 2005 slayings

BROCKTON (AP) - A Massachusetts man has been found guilty of second-degree murder in the 2005 killings of two homeless men.

James Winquist of Weymouth was convicted Tuesday in Brockton Superior Court and sentenced to two concurrent life sentences. He was charged with fatally beating and stabbing 47-year-old William Chrapan and 49-year-old David Lyons.

Winquist's co-defendant in the case, Eric Snow, killed himself in jail in March.

The victims' bodies were found dumped in a Hingham park. Prosecutors said Winquist and Snow bragged and laughed about the slayings at a party, where they showed off Chrapan's severed right hand.
