Weston schools warn of Snapchat account soliciting explicit photos

WESTON, Mass. — Weston school officials and police are investigating after explicit pictures were solicited from students.

School officials tell FOX25 the suspect made multiple attempts to solicit the pictures through a fake Snapchat account.

Over the weekend the Weston Police Department’s investigation led them to believe the pictures were only solicited from boys in the sophomore class. In a letter to parents, Weston HS Principal Anthony Parker said some students had responded with "compromising pictures."

Besides causing embarrassment and emotional distress, sending pictures like this qualifies as dissemination of child pornography, which is a felony," Parker's letter said.

In an assembly Tuesday morning, the principal told students to report any attempts by someone to get pictures on Snapchat to police. So far, police have little to go off of because no victims have come forward.

As Jacqui Heinrich reported on FOX25 News at 10 p.m., police said they were having a hard time with the investigation.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact the police department by calling (781) 786-6201 or submitting an anonymous tip on the Weston High School website.
