Westminster man dies when car crashes into pond

WESTMINSTER, Mass. (AP) - Police have identified the local man who died when his car went off the road and landed in a Westminster pond over the weekend.

Emergency responders were called to State Road West at about 6:30 p.m. Saturday where they found an overturned car partially submerged in Greenwood Pond.

The driver and lone occupant, 83-year-old Richard Ahlin, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was wearing a seat belt.

Police said there are no witnesses to the crash, which remains under investigation.
