Westfield man sentenced on child porn charges

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) — A Westfield man has been sentenced to 3 ½ years in prison for possessing thousands of images and videos of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct on his computer.

Richard Starr of Westfield was also sentenced Thursday in U.S. District Court to 10 years of probation upon release and ordered to pay $3,800 in restitution.

The 56-year-old Starr pleaded guilty in February to possession of materials involving the sexual exploitation of minors.

He was arrested in June 17 when the FBI was alerted to an email found on a website that specializes in the producing and selling child pornography. The email was traced back to Starr.

Police obtained a search warrant for Starr's computer and DVD collection and found the images and videos.
