West Nile virus found in Fall River

FALL RIVER, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Mass. health officials say a mosquito sample collected in Fall River has tested positive for West Nile virus.

The sample was collected near St. Patrick's Cemetery.

Areas surrounding St. Patrick's and Oak Grove cemeteries will be sprayed between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m. Thursday as a result of the discovery. Residents who live in the area are asked to keep their windows closed and refrain from going outside during this time.

Fall River had seven mosquito samples test positive for West Nile in 2012. Nearly 7,000 samples tested positive statewide in 2012.
