Weekend weather could create problems for last minute shoppers

It's going to be a busy weekend for shoppers - and the weather could create more problems.

Snow piled up a little overnight and freezing rain has just started to hit cities and towns across the state, but none of that will be stopping people from crossing off the final presents on their Christmas lists.

Officials at some of the state's largest shopping areas said their biggest piece of advice is to head out early.

Most malls will open early this weekend - and mall leaders recommend going early if you don't do well in crowds.

Some shoppers Boston 25 News spoke with this morning say the weather didn't stop them from going out because they know they only have so much time before Christmas is here.

"I just got home from school late so I gotta get it done in one day," said Andrew Whalen.

"We were all done and then decided we needed a few more items," said Tony Liberatore.

The Burlington Mall has extended its hours this weekend - staying open until 11 p.m. tonight and tomorrow they'll be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Of course, many are looking forward to shopping the day after Christmas, where 47 percent of shoppers are expected to take advantage of those after Christmas deals.
