Weapon in 2012 Hernandez investigation found in Mass.

BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) – FOX 25 has learned police have recovered a weapon they believe was used in a 2012 double killing in Boston's South End.

Mass. State Police found the .38-caliber revolver after a car crash in Longmeadow involving a woman from Bristol, Conn., in June.

Following the crash on Route 91 in Ludlow, troopers searched the car driven by 19-year-old Jailene Diaz-Ramos and found a gun and several rounds of ammunition she was not licensed to carry. She has since been arraigned on several firearm charges.

FOX 25 has also learned ballistics tests revealed that the weapon was involved in the killing of Daniel Abreu and Safiro Furtado in July 2012.

Police began investigating former Patriots TE Aaron Hernandez's possible involvement in the killings after he was arrested in connection with the death of Odin Lloyd, of Dorchester. Sources told FOX 25 that investigators believe Hernandez and the shooting victims were at the same Boston nightclub before the drive-by.

Hernandez has been charged with murder in Lloyd's death and has pleaded not guilty.
