BOSTON — Water was shooting into the air near the Huntington Avenue and South Huntington Avenue intersection due to a water main break Monday night.
But the road was back open by peak commute times Tuesday.
The break happened on the Boston-Brookline line on Huntington Avenue, near Jamaicaway. Officials said it was from a Boston city water line.
The water main first broke at 8 p.m. and wasn't shut off until about 10:30 p.m., causing the intersection to become a sheet of ice.

Boston Fire Department said the water main break is directly in the middle of the outbound side of the street, leading into Route 9.
Streets in the area are closed due to the water main break and the extreme amount of ice it has caused.
It's unclear if this will affect the morning commute, but the area is heavily trafficked by commuters.
