WATCH: Suspected drunken driver causes havoc near Chelsea City Hall

CHELSEA, Mass. — Police in Chelsea have arrested a man they say caused havoc near City Hall while driving near City Hall and nearly hitting several pedestrians.

Jose Valle was allegedly behind the wheel of a blue PT Cruiser when he crashed into a parked car, went down the stairs of the Civil War monument, crossed the street while narrowly missing three people, crashed into a trash barrel, park bench and traveled across the City Hall lawn.

After that, police said he backed back across the street, hit an antique light pole near the monument, and narrowly missed more pedestrians before putting the vehicle into gear and pulled away.

A short distance away the vehicle stopped working and police took Valle into custody. A breath test returned a 0.25 BAC reading, more than three times the legal limit.
