Warren plans Mass. visits during Congress break

BOSTON (AP) — Sen. Elizabeth Warren is making visits around the state this week as Congress takes its August break.

On Wednesday afternoon, the Massachusetts Democrat tours the AbbVie Bioresearch Center in Worcester. That's followed by a trip to Springfield for Sheriff Michael Ashe's annual clambake.

Warren visits southeastern Massachusetts on Thursday afternoon to meet with workers at the General Dynamics C4 Systems facility in Taunton. She'll also visit UMass Darmouth's School for Marine Science and Technical in New Bedford and its Advanced Technology and Manufacturing Center in Fall River.

Warren will attend a Thursday evening ceremony honoring Massachusetts Institute of Technology Officer Sean Collier, who authorities say was slain by the Boston Marathon bombing suspects. Collier is being giving a posthumous appointment to the Somerville Police Department, which he had hoped to join before he was killed.
