Warrant issued in MBTA bus driver assault

CHELSEA, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Transit police detectives have received an arrest warrant for a 32-year-old man accused of assaulting an MBTA operator while he was driving a bus in Chelsea.

Douglas Bergeron is charged with assault and battery on a public employee and interfering with public transportation for his alleged role in the Sunday night incident.

Investigators were called to Broadway Street in Chelsea just before 9:30 p.m. for a report of an assault in progress.

When investigators arrived, they learned a man, allegedly Bergeron, assaulted the operator while he was driving the bus, causing him to veer into a parked car. The impact of collision caused a chain reaction involving two other cars. The incident was caught on the bus security camera.
